We are a child-centred service with a values-based philosophy for growing your child’s self-perception, nurturing the child-parent relationship, fostering self-reliance and building life-long skills in accepting responsibility of their role in regulating their emotions and behaviour. These skills rely on your child tuning into what their body is feeling then providing the sensory experiences they need to keep themselves in the zone of feeling safe and in turn create a safe space for others to experience and maintain a feeling of physical SAFETY and emotional SECURITY.
We are committed to our mission to role model INTEGRITY to build character in making the sensory gym safe and comfortable for all sensory and behavioural challenges in the eternal quest of a PEACEFUL, loving existence through our shared interactions, experiences and in our respectful gentleness to our own natures and inner worlds. Building the personal skills for your child to create within themselves a feeling of physical safety, comfort and emotional security is at the heart of our service.
Sensory Tuning has been many years in the making for its founder, Teresa Masterson. From her early days as a secondary Personal Development, Health and Physical Education teacher, she has enjoyed mentoring young people in the shaping of their values and their lives. Teresa has supported students who have struggled to recognise and feel their value. She has endeavoured to help these individuals in overcoming barriers that may be holding them back from sensing their true worth.
The members area is a password protected space for registered children and their parents or carers to seek additional information regarding their sensory needs and how to achieve optimal level of enjoyment and best level of performance through natural means of emotional regulation throughout the day as needed. Additional resources including a sensory processing overview, a section on sensory regulation and depression, sensory diet ideas, sensory regulation tips, weekly sensory gym worksheets, additional sensory activities, a parents forum and a Gym Talk for registered young people are available. Non-registered adults are welcome to access many of the information resources and blog for a minimal monthly subscription.
This Is a safe space for young people registered in the sensory gym to meet and talk about their experiences in the gym, the struggles they may have and swap ideas on sensory activities they like and what works for them to emotionally regulate themselves for better enjoyment of life where they feel in control of their emotions rather than their emotions ruling them. They can share tips and encouragement along their journey of emotional and behavioural growth whilst under the anonymity of a created identity, sharing only what feels comfortable. Gym worksheets, sensory regulation activities and tips are available and updated throughout the sensory gym program.
